ADVISORY: Parents and Educators Gather to Learn about Innovative New Math Program at Rowan Elementary School

Hattiesburg, Miss., Mar 6, 2014

WHAT: Rowan Elementary, Rowan’s Parent-Teacher Organization, the district alumni organization EUROHA and MIND Research Institute will host an event to introduce the ST Math program to parents of Rowan students. Implementing the program since November of last year, Rowan is using the innovative software as a non-traditional way to improve student math achievement and help teachers address new Common Core State Standards. The evening will include remarks by Hattiesburg Public School District Superintendent James Q. Bacchus and Stephanie Hoze from EUROHA, the district alumni group which is currently raising funds to underwrite the costs of the program. ST Math, developed by the nonprofit MIND Research Institute, is game-based instructional software designed to teach math visually through the use of animation. Students will be demonstrating the ST Math games on interactive whiteboards at the event, and parents will receive instruction on how to use the program at home with their children.
