Game description: Soccermetry is a board game based on geometry. Different aspect of shapes, lines, angles, circles are covered in this game. For shapes: challenge is to recognize 2D and 3D shapes. For Angles: recognize different types of angles. Lines: covers parallel lines/intersecting lines/line segment/ray/etc. Circle: covers tangent/ diameter/radius/chord/semi-circle/center like concepts. There is no calculation involved. Only recognition of these concepts and mostly that are taught in 3rd grade and in 4th gradeFor 2 or more players/Ages 8+.

Contents:
1 Board, 5 sets of cards, special dice, 4 pieces each for red & blue and 1 soccer ball.

Setup:
Place all the cards face down in a pile. Place one of the red and blue piece on the start position.
Mystery cards: are like “miss a turn”, or “move a certain number of places ahead or backward”, “earn a goal”, “lose a goal”, etc. This adds fun to the game. Cheat sheet has definitions/picture to help the teams know the answer.

Play:
Blue team goes first and rolls a dice, draws a card from the stack based on the dice. They place the soccer ball on their answer. If correct, then blue team gets to move their piece forward by 1 place. Next is red team’s turn. Game continues till any team earns 4 goals. If neither player knows the answer, they refer to the cheat sheet and no one moves. If one team cannot answer the question, other team gets to try the answer, thereby stealing extra turn. This game is designed to learn simple concepts of geometry in a fun way.

  • Divide players in two teams, blue team and red team. Blue team goes first.
  • Both teams have to place one of their 4 pieces on X and O “start” position.
  • On their turn, Roll a dice, pick a card based on the dice, and answer the question on the card.
  • The team places the soccer ball on their answer (which is one of the boxes on the outer rim of the soccer field).
  • If it is the right answer, then that team moves their piece forward by one place and second team goes next.
  • If one team is not able to answer the question, the other team gets a chance to answer the same question and thereby a chance to steal that turn.
  • If neither team can answer the question, they lookup cheat sheet, but neither teams move their piece.
  • Once their piece reaches the goal, it stays there, and the team continues their game, with other 3 pieces, till one of the team earns all the 4 goals to win.
