Ocean Equations

Ocean Equations
PS 174 William Sidney Mount

Game description: You are in a submarine in the ocean trying to make a new discovery. Suddenly you notice that your gas tank is empty and you start to slowly fall to the bottom of the ocean. Then you notice a trail of tiny tanks of gas leading up to the top of the ocean. And because gas is what you need, of course you follow it. Your goal is to find out who dropped all the tanks of gas in the ocean. The first person to get to the finish line wins the game.

  • This is a multi-grade level game for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.
  • Players choose cards from their grade level decks.
  • To get gas, answer a question from one of the math cards either geometry or algebra.
  • If you land on a shortcut space, you choose a shortcut card instead of a regular card. If you get it wrong, then you stay in the spot you are in.
  • If you land on a bubble space, you must choose a card from the bubble card pile. Bubble cards can be either good or bad, because bubbles are unpredictable.
  • There are players and a checker. The checker cannot play the game itself to keep the game fair, their job is to make sure the players get the math questions right.
