Math Runner
Merced City School District
Game description: The objective is to get the most points by answering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division math problems.
- First you would need 2 people in a team (2 teams per game).
- One player from each team will go first. The team decides who goes first.
- Each player gets 2 bean bags to toss into the hula hoop from a certain distance. Each team decides which teammate throws first. Therefore, they have 2 chances to make it into the hula hoop. If the player doesn’t make it, the team doesn’t get points.
- Next, the same player runs to the bowling alley. Whichever team player gets to the bowling alley first, has a chance to knock down the most pins. The remaining pins can be knocked down by the next person.
- Each pin will be colored a different color (green, blue, red, yellow). The flash cards that contain the math problems will match the colored pins. For example, if they knock down a Red pin, they draw a Red card. If they knock down 5 pins, they have 5 chances to get points. If they knock down 1 pin, they only have 1 chance.
- For each math problem the player answers correctly, they will get 10 points. If they answer it wrong, they subtract 5 points from the total. If they have 0 points, they stay at 0 points. Each team member will get only one attempt. The teammate not doing the relay will record points on a white board.
- After the first teammate finishes the relay, he/she takes the white board so the next player can start the obstacle course.
- The second teammate will complete the obstacle course. This will be the last chance for the team to get more points.
- At the end, both teams compare white boards.
- The team with the most points wins the game and wins candy.
