Cheese Run
Merced City School District
Game description: The objective of the game is to answer math questions correctly to get to the end of the board first to win the cheddar cheese.
- Target Audience: 3rd grade and up
- Open up the board and place the dice and cards on the side.
- Setup your characters on the start of the board. Players can choose a character of their choice.
- Shuffle each deck of cards separately.
- Place the chance cards and the equation cards in two separate decks.
- The oldest person goes first. 2-4 players can play.
- The first player chooses an equation card. They can’t peek at the answers on the back of the card. If they answer correctly, they roll the dice. They move up how many spaces they rolled. For example, if Player 1 rolls a 2, they move up 2 spaces if they answer correctly.
- If Player One gets the answer to the equation wrong, they have to go back one space. They can check the correct answer by opening the “answer reveal.”
- The next player rolls the dice, draws a card, and tries to answer the equation.
- If a player rolls a 6, they can get a “chance card” or move up 6 spaces. Chance cards can either help you or make you go back. For example, if the chance card says “ Move up 5 spaces,” the player moves up 5 spaces.
- A player cannot go through the shortcut without getting the shortcut card.
If a player draws a “shortcut card” from the Chance pile, they can choose to skip over and go through the shortcut. They must go to the space labeled “Start here for shortcut".
- If a player lands on a “mousetrap” space, they have to skip their turn. The player cannot roll the dice or answer a math equation.
- The player who gets to the “end” of the gameboard wins the cheese.
