Oil and Energy Philanthropy Director Joins K-12 Math Education Nonprofit Board

Irvine, Calif., June 27, 2017 The social benefit nonprofit and leader in K-12 math education software MIND Research Institute announced the addition of Claudia Kreisle to its Board of Directors. Kreisle, Director of Philanthropy for energy product manufacturer Phillips 66, joined the board this spring.

“We’re thrilled to have Claudia join our Board and share her leadership and expertise with us,” said MIND Research Institute Chairman John Phelan. “Claudia has already lent her considerable support through MIND’s now 3-year partnership with Phillips 66 so I’m looking forward to extending her role in an official capacity to continue moving the organization forward in its mission.”

Kreisle oversees corporate philanthropy for Phillips 66, where she develops strong partnerships with key charitable organizations and works with partners to develop mutually beneficial goals. She has extensive experience in managing philanthropic projects, working with nonprofit organizations and developing communications strategy. Claudia serves on the board for the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Ladies for Literacy, The Partnership for Baylor College of Medicine and the National Energy Education Development Project, and served on the Texas Governor’s Commission for Women. She holds a BS from Vanderbilt University and MBA from Southern Methodist University.

“Through Phillips 66’s partnership with MIND Research, it’s been exciting to see the impact of MIND’s revolutionary math programs on students and teachers,” said Kreisle. “I’m excited to be part of such an innovative and forward-thinking organization, one that shows consistent, powerful results in building the real-world problem-solving and critical-thinking skills our students need for the 21st century workplace.”

Kreisle and Phillips 66 were introduced to MIND Research Institute through the Business Roundtable, an association of Fortune 500 CEOs that recognized MIND’s ST Math software program in 2013 as one of five programs nationally to have “strong potential for helping prepare more U.S. K-12 students for college and the workforce.” Since then, Phillips 66 has provided MIND with over $3 million in funding, helping expand ST Math to 53 additional schools throughout the country.

“Claudia’s and Phillips 66’s investment in MIND has already been transformative for thousands of students across the country,” said MIND Research Institute co-founder Matthew Peterson, Ph.D. “I’m excited to work with Claudia as she adds an industry perspective we’ve not yet had represented on the board. I look forward to working with her in our mission of ensuring that all students are mathematically equipped to solve the world’s most challenging problems.”
