MIND Research Institute Math Camp Family and Community Day Showcases Game-based Learning

Orange, Calif., Aug 19, 2015 WHAT: MIND Research Institute, a social benefit organization dedicated to closing the math achievement gap for K-12 students across the country, will host a Family and Community Day concluding its inaugural Math Camp. More than 125 students who completed the Math Camp experience will showcase their master projects that explore aspects of math in nature, movement, art and game design.

The week-long immersive summer Math Camp takes math out of the classroom with the goal of fostering a love of learning and conceptual problem-solving skills. MIND’s mathematicians and the game-designers behind the award-winning ST Math® software, have created camp activities that focus on the concepts behind the way math works. Hands-on experiences include a ropes course, archery, ziplining, build-a-brain, dancing, designing games, and exploring nature – all from authentic mathematical perspectives.
