Tom Vander Ark Supports MIND on #GivingTuesday

Tom Vander Ark is one of the leading voices in education today. As the CEO of Getting Smart, he is a tireless advocate for innovation in learning. He’s also a longtime supporter of MIND Research Institute, and demonstrated that support once again on Giving Tuesday, a yearly event centered around the encouragement and celebration of giving.

Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. The hashtag #GivingTuesday is used on a variety of social media platforms to highlight stories of individuals, communities and organizations who are supporting nonprofits.

Cisco Systems, Inc. asked Tom and two other social media influencers to make an in-kind donation to a nonprofit organization as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility campaign. Tom chose MIND as one of the organizations he was donating to, and explained why in a short video he posted on Twitter.

“MIND has been engaging kids nationwide to improve their math and computational thinking skills,” he said, highlighting the impact ST Math is having across the country.

MIND Research Institute CEO Brett Woudenberg expressed his gratitude on behalf of the organization, the board and all of MIND’s staff. "For the past 20 years, MIND has been fortunate to count on incredible partners like Cisco and Tom Vander Ark," said Woudenberg. "Their support has been critical to our growth and to the impact that we have had in math education."

Throughout Giving Tuesday, Cisco shared Tom’s story as well as others on their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels.
