One MIND, Many Hearts: 20 Years of Neuroscience, Social Impact and STEM Education

For two decades, MIND Research Institute has inspired passionate people to join our mission to ensure that all students are mathematically equipped to solve the world's most challenging problems.

The Leadership Breakfast on May 22, 2018 was a celebration of MIND's key milestones, our recent WestEd study results, as well as a sneak peek of what is on the horizon for MIND. Check out the updated MIND website to learn more about our mission and impact.

We announced our 2018 Education Champion award recipient, Dr. Elaine Keeley. Over the past 35 years as an administrator, Dr. Keeley has committed herself to providing the best educational opportunities to all students.

Dr.  Elaine Keeley and co-founder of MIND Research Institute, Dr. Matthew Peterson.

As the Director of Curriculum Instruction and Staff Development at Merced City School District, Dr. Keeley is implementing a robust STEAM plan to deliver 21st century learning experiences to her students. She shared some of her experiences during her acceptance speech:

Merced has a high number of foster students and 85% of the student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch. Many of these students have social emotional learning issues and are looking for a voice. If these students can find a voice in math, and they can become a math superhero, that makes learning personal.

A big thank you to Dr. Keeley, a champion in providing the resources needed for every student to be successful!

John Phelan, chairman of the board of directors at MIND, hosted the Leadership Breakfast.

I had the pleasure to share our 20 year timeline and highlight some of the best memories of why  many of us have stayed loyal to our mission after two decades.  What is your why?

Thanks to our partners, colleagues, and educators for their support and partnership in transforming math education across the nation!
